Being eco-friendly is becoming more and more important. It is about changing the purpose of how we choose to live. This cooktop is eco-friendly because it promotes green living that helps you conservate energy, water (it can be easily cleaned) and pollution.
Because the fact that it is very efficient, safe and precise it has been used both in restaurants kitchens and home kitchens. It is very popular because of its very affordable price and its portability. You can cook on it from pastry cream and chocolate to sausages.
If you are looking for a low-price induction cooktop, this is the one. It can be adjusted from 125 degrees to 425 degrees in seconds. It cools down in an instant.
The design is simple and you will learn how to use it in just a few seconds. Plus it is so efficient in comparison to conventional gas or electric stoves.
1. Controls
The control panel has a plastic face and is place at your sight so you could easily adjust the settings before and while the pan is over the cooking zone.
Unlike the majority of induction cooktops, this one has a knob that you can use to increase or decrease the temperature. In fact, you can use this knob to adjust the power range and the temperature (this can go from 160 to 430 degrees F). The display helps you set the power, the temperature and the time for cooking.
Apart from the knob, there is the on/off Power Button, the Menu button and the display that is placed between these two.
The temperature can be set to 6 levels (6 is the highest) while the power can be set to 10 levels.
The Tru Eco Induction Cooker is also equipped with a timer that you can use when you want to cook rice or beans, or anything else that require long cooking time.
Just set the time and you can leave the kitchen. You can use it to slow cook (at 300watts and 160F) but this may not be really a true slow cook because true slow cooking needs 6 to 8 hours of cooking time and the maximum time to programme this true eco induction cooktop is only 3 hours (and 2 hours more for stand-by mode).
2. Surface
The surface is black, smooth, very well delimitated from the control panel that is made of plastic.
The diameter of the cooking surface is 11 inches square. The plate is made from glass ceramic and it is very simple to clean. You can use a damp cloth to gently take over the spills after each use.
The glass ceramic top is quite reliable, yet not indestructible. In fact, it is similar to any other flat top surfaces. This means it can handle every day usage, but a 6.5 quart may be a little bit to large. Anyway, you can use cast iron pots.
The manufacturer recommends a maximum diameter of the cookware of 10 inches.
3. Heating Elements
This Tru Eco Induction Cooker is part of the single burners units that have only one heating element, placed under the circle rings that marks the cooking area.
4. Power/Watts
The Tru Eco Efficient induction cooktop requires 110V.
5. Sensors
There is a pan recognition sensor that will automatically detect if the cookware you place on the burner is induction-ready. If you remove it from the cooking zone while in function, the sensor will detect there is no pan over and it will stop producing heat.
6. Ventilation
The unit is ventilated with a fan on the back. Be sure to place it on a flat, stable surface (never on textile materials such as a towel) and never block the air vents.
7. Safety Features
Being an induction cooktop means it is very safe to use because it doesn’t have open flames. The surface remains cool.
Unfortunately, there is no lock control to allow you to lock the menu when in use.
8. Accessories
This Tru Eco Energy Efficient Induction Cooker is not delivered with an induction skillet or pot. You need to test your existing cookware to see if it is induction-ready. If not, you have to buy new cookware that will work with the induction cooktop. But keep in mind that induction-ready cookware is not more expensive in comparison to normal pans and pots that are not ok for induction.
To test you existing pans and pots place a piece o magnet on the bottom and observe if this sticks to it. You can also look for induction-ready icons on the label. In order to help the unit cook more evenly, you have to be careful to place on the burner a pan that is flat, with no slight curves on the bottom.
The cooktop has an electrical cord with a three-prong plug.
9. Dimensions
The Tru Eco Energy Efficient Induction Cooker itself is 11.2” wide x 14.4” deep x 2.5” high and the pack dimensions are 16.2″ deep x 12.7″ wide x 3.9″ high. It weights 7 pounds.
As we can see this is a very compact and ergonomic single burner. You can easily find a place for it in your kitchen.
